Arguments Against Women Having the Right to Vote: There were some worries for women having the right to vote, some of them were owning of land. John Ray stated that if women had the right to vote then they would have a right to buy an have hold of property. J.B Sanford brought up an interesting argument that said there would be a loss of respect for a women because she would be on her own now. The homes of people could of also gotten thrown off because the women could leave the home and be on her own. The men were afraid of losing their wife and mother of their children.There were even arguments that the women could not handle the political issues if they had the right to vote. Allison Lange stated men said women would have little time to even worry about the political issues or upcoming elections because they would still be taking care of the home. 33-4.png This political cartoon is explaining how the U.S. wanted to take over/have control of these places like Alaska, the Philippines, Cuba, etc.  It is also making it look like the U.S. did it so easily. Uncle Sam is just hanging out in a chair smoking while just putting some American flags on the globe. This cartoonist made it look like the U.S. were going to take over these places because they looked pretty, because it was easy, and because we could. The next cartoon is showing President Roosevelt shoveling away the people who did not support him about the Panama Canal issue. This cartoon artist seems like he/she was not a fan of how Roosevelt handled this situation. It is showing how the two places are being split and he is throwing away his non-supporters. Maybe the author was trying to portray how Roosevelt made everything not unified. The first television was invented in 1927 by a 21 year old named Philo Taylor Farnsworth. Although it was invented so early, families didn't have them in their homes until the 1950's. By the 50's 20 million homes had televisions. The reason why families had them 30 years later was because in the 50's their were 98 stations on the T.V., many movies were played on it, and news stations started to use T.V.'s instead of radios. Also it covered the first presidential campaign in the 50's. The best invention of all was created in the 50's, the remote control. No longer would you have to get up to change the channel! And color television became popular in 1954 which was the same year that I Love Lucy and The Tonight Show with Steve Allen aired.       According to New York Times,   the U.S. has 270 million guns and had 90 million mass shooters from the time of 1966-2012. No other country has more than 46 million guns and 18 million mass shooters. We have more guns than any other country and have had more mass shootings than any other countries.  There were  13,286 people shot and killed by a gun in 2015, and  26,819 were injured by a gun the same year. Although that is a big number for amount of deaths done by guns there are more deaths done by cars, in 2016 there were 37,461 deaths by car. Department Stores and Urbanization Picture of a women as a sales clerk During the 1910's - 20's department stores totally changed the amount of freedom women had. Before then women would be at home doing motherly things like taking care of the kids, cleaning, cooking, and more. But once department stores were booming, the role of the women changed in a way. Women were able to work, get a paycheck, leave the house alone, and were given a sense of freedom. Although they were given this they were not fully given the right to freedom. During urbanization department stores gave women autonomy and a sense of freedom while reinforcing their private sphere. Women could now spend their time out of the house and shop. "America, how should we remember this soldier?" I agreed the most with the author of this article when he said "Elijah Morrison and those like him deserve to be remembered and honored." I believe that the soldiers who fought in war in the 1800's should be honored. Those soldiers fought for our country, left their families behind, and risked their lives for the U.S. I believe that their graves should be marked and that they use these areas of land to commemorate the great work they did for us.
