Post 5: In Class Write

1.          All the President’s Men was a very informative film on the history of the Watergate scandal with President Nixon. This movie showed how many details went into this investigation to solve the mystery. It also presented the fact of how President Nixon used the power he had illegally. It showed the marvelous work that two investigative journalists performed named Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. This movie is a great example to show the importance of this event and the amount of work and time it took to figure out the crime.             Carl and Bob worked on this investigation for over a year. They stopped by many houses to question people, went through thousands of library cards to see what books a person checked out, drove for hours, and risked their jobs on Watergate. This process used so much of their time that they barely slept and only ate fast food. There were a lot of late...

Post 4: Works Cited

History.com Article on Watergate Scandal: Why I used this:I used this article for research before I watched the film. I previously had no idea what the Watergate scandal was even about so I read this article to get a simple overview of the whole investigation. The University of Texas Article on Deep Throat:  Why I used this: I used this article to learn more information on Deep Throat because I did not even know he came out as Mark Felt many years after the Scandal until Mary Coomer told me. I needed more information on him and who he was and this article provided that information. The Washington Post Article on How Mark Felt became Deep Throat: Why I used this: I used this article first because it was personally written by Bob Woodward who personally worked with Mark Felt. I wanted to hear more information on this very important character and see how they knew each other and this article provided exactly that. Sage Journals Article on The Evolving Watchdog: Why I used th...

Post 3: Dinner Menu

Image
5 Course Meal: Soup: Loaded Lies Potato Soup Why I chose this: I chose this loaded lies potato soup because President Nixon lied to the whole entire country about what he did; and there were so many facts that needed to be unfolded in this investigation which is why I am using 'loaded lies'. Appetizer: Samples of Fast food from McDonalds and Burger King Why I chose this: I chose giving out samples of fast food for the appetizer because in the film Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward were so busy figuring out the investigation that they only had time to eat fast food. I also chose this as the appetizer because it is always a shower part of a dinner meal representing the time frame that the two journalists used to eat meals. Salad:  Cottage cheese, pineapple, cucumber, and tomato salad. Why I Chose this: I chose this salad as a part of the dinner because President's Nixon's last meal was pineapple and cottage cheese. This was a big moment for the U.S. becau...

Post 2: Exhibit

Artifacts: The notes that Bob Woodward took about his encounter with Mark Felt (Deep Throat) Why I chose this: I chose these notes because these are the notes that Bob typed about his encounter with Mark Felt. Felt was the reason that Bob and Carl figured out so much of the information needed through this very complicated trail. These notes include the key people of this operation. In these notes Bob is trying to connect the trail between Baldwin, Mitchell, and Hunt. He is also questioning why so many of these people should not of been hired because they had low reputations. This is when the questioning of people began and wonderment of what and who were involved in the Watergate scandal. Notes about Watergate written by Woodward Why I chose this: I chose to have these notes as well because this was the beginning of finding the product. This is when Bob and Carl figured out some of the names they needed to lead through the whole process of the crimes Nixon made. These ...

Post 1: Invitation

Image
Invitation List and why: Richard Nixon: The President when Watergate Scandal happened. I want to invite him because he was the whole cause of this scandal and is the one who should be questioned. Carl Bernstein: One of the journalists who helped solve Watergate. I would like to invite him because he was a major part of the film and for solving the crime. I want him to be there so he can question everyone and get all the information needed and wanted to be the reporter of this fantastic event. Bob Woodward: One of the journalists who helped solve Watergate. I also want to invite Bob because  he was another person who was a huge part of the film and scandal. I want him to question people, get the facts straight, and make it a little more chaotic. He will also be able to get the word out about this event since he is a reporter as well. He will enjoy this event a lot as well as Carl and they will make it a more fun interesting night since they are very passionate about this scand...

Thinking about Progress

1. I would define progress as making things better or people and places. Maybe for the progressive era it would be making better laws for the people, making the United States a better place to live in. 2. The period of time for the Progressive Era was from 1890-1920. It was this time because a lot was happening. Women were given the right to vote, women suffrage, there was social activism, and political reform. Some of the problems during this time was.... Some achievements were women given the right to vote. Also they were addressing problems like education, safety, and a good work place according to George Washington University.  Some actions that were taken were people speaking up about the issues and they created protests. 3. Progressive reformer share in common of speaking up for their beliefs. They also believed a lot of the same thing like in civic duty and self-sacrifice according to Britiannica.  They also fought for patriotism. 4. The major goals for Progressiv...

5. Our predictions: have flying cars, normal use of drones for shipments, holographic phones, and the phone that will never die.  1. The predictions people made 100 years ago was that we would get rid of C, X, and Q from our alphabet. We would purchase things and receive them from tubes. A university education would be free to men and women by now. Horses would be extinct. Everybody will walk 10 miles a day. There will be no wild animals except in zoos. Fruit would become bigger. The predictions from 50 years ago was there will be interplanetary travel. There will be a flying aero cab. Divers will ride giant sea horses. Intelligent life will be found on Mars. Cancer will be conquered. Police will have giant wings to fly. Beef will be a luxury. We will have races under water in the pacific on fish. 2. Most of these predictions are a wish. People wanted to think of these abstract ideas like there would be races underwater with fish. Sure there were some predictions or warnings...
